Written directions followed by the Leake family on their journey to Cass County (now Bartow) from Abbeville, South Carolina.The numbers represent mileage between each stop. Framed.
John Leake and his wife, Sally, came from Laurens County, SC, to Cass Co in early 1840s and acquired much of the property upon which the city of Cartersville is built. Armstead Leake followed his brother John to Cass in 1846. He and his wife, Mary Hanna, and their 7 children, settled first along Pettit's Creek, then later moved closer to Cartersville.
