Records indicate that the press was in a printing shop in Columbus, Georgia, but previously came from Ellaville, GA, where it was used to print The Ellaville Times. Ellaville in is Schley County near Americus.
This is the same type of press used to print the Cherokee Phoenix at New Echota, the capitol of the Cherokee Nation in the 1830s.
